The EPA, The GED and Your Duties Training Course

• This course is designed for:  Anyone in the waste & recycling industry.  The GED applies to everyone involved in an activity such as waste management.  Legislation has changed significantly over the years, so even those who have been in the waste industry for many years need to understand their GED and Duties under new legislation.
• Expected course duration: Allow 30-40 minutes
• Qualification: Certificate of Completion (for training records)

Course description:

Designed for Victoria’s waste and recycling industry, this course steps out the basics on how to comply with their General Environmental Duty (GED) and the Duties that apply to them in their roles, under the Environment Protection Act (2017).

The GED mandates that anyone conducting business activities must minimise risks to human health and the environment “so far as reasonably practicable” (SFARP).

Additionally, the curriculum covers mandatory legal obligations, known as “Duties”, including the duty to report pollution incidents and contaminated land, as well as the cascading duties required for managing Industrial, Priority, and Reportable Priority Wastes.

The information in this course is explained in accessible terms, with a quiz at the end of the course to assess understanding of the course contents.

The suggested time to complete this course is 30 to 40 minutes.
